-OCCA Cougars Seal Historic Win against ACA Scorpion-
OCCA won their first ever ACCL game against ACA Scorpions. After winning the toss ACA put OCCA to bat on the turf wicket in Centennial Regional Park (Santa Ana Orange County). OCCA openers batted sensibly with three of top four batsmen reaching double figures and maintained a healthy run rate. By 33rd over, OCCA was 155/6. It was anticipated that OCCA will post over 225 runs, a good total on this field to defend. However, some bad shot selections and excellent catching displays by ACA, OCCA was restricted to 172 at the end of the 36th over. (Shaveen 45, Virath 31, Arman 34, Nishan 30, Prathap 2/39 and Amith 2/21)
Chasing 172 to clinch both ACCL games against OCCA, ACA lost opener at 51 runs in the 12th over but Sunith dominated a 37-run stand with Sid to keep ACA firmly on track. OCCA bowlers bowled good lines and lengths and made runs hard to come by. Sid removed Maggi in the 23rd over and from that point-on wickets fell on a consistent basis. Manjula Vithana grabing an excellent catch to dismiss Narayan off Sid’s bowling, and from there onward OCCA Cougars capitalized all opportunities to dismiss ACA for 147 runs at the end of 36th over. Sid completed his 8 over spell with excellent figures of 8-0-24 -3 and Ayeshan finished his spell with 6-0-26-4.
